This class involves learning basic Defense-Magic. For example, you may learn how to create simple illusions, simple concealment spells, and how to disarm an (lightly-armed) opponent. You will train under the Supervision of the Arch Mage.
Post a reply in this thread of at least 500 words explaining what you are doing in you lesson, how well you do and so on, and then wait for the Arch Mage to accept it before going on to post in your next class.

Zethra rushed down the hall to her first lesson, hoping that she wouldn't be late. She didn't run, but walked at a rather fast pace instead. Defense magic wasn't exactly the kind of magic that Zethra wanted to study, but she had to if she wanted to go to the next level. And besides, it was Zethra's first lesson and she didn't want to make a bad impression, since it was up to the Arch Mage if she could go to the next class or not. As she threw open the door she found the Arch Mage already sitting in the room. He glanced at her to acknowledge her prescence.
Zethra stood before him uncomfortably in silence, waiting for him to address her. When she had decided that she would have to say something first, he stood up and examined her. "Today you will be learning basic defense-magic, as I'm sure you are aware of. I think first we will work on warming up your abilities before you attempt to do the magic I'm going to teach you, as it is your first lesson," he said. "First I want you to relax and close your eyes..." While warming up Zethra learned how to locate and use her magical source.
"Good. Now I'm going to teach you how to create small illusions," the Arch Mage proceeded as they finished up. "First you will try to create something small, such as a mouse. Look ahead of you at the place that you want it to appear. Stare ahead, focus, and channel your magic through you. Focus on the image of it appearing in the chosen space until you can see it."
Zethra stared ahead at a blank patch of flooring. She pictured a small, grey mouse there and held the image in her mind. Next she reached out for her magic and channeled it through her. It had to go somewhere, and if it didn't go to the desired effect than it would surely cause something else to happen, so she had to be quick. It seemed like it would be an easy enough thing to do, but Zethra had trouble focusing. Her skin turned even paler as she shook with concentration and the scar on her face stood out greatly. She released her magic. Not knowing if she had completed the task or not, she blinked a couple of times and took a deep breath. Ahead of her was a small mouse, unmoving. Zethra's elatement was cut short by the Arch Mage's words.
"Your illusion is satisfactory, but it seems to be missing a few details, such as an eye, I believe. Can you please try again?" Zethra went through the same process as before a few more times before the Arch Mage was pleased by the effects of her magic. It was a little easier each time, but Zethra was not used to using magic on purpose. The effects of her magic previously had sometimes been great, but always accidental. Actually summoning the magic was much harder.
Zethra next proceeded to concealment spells, which she found easier than creating illusions. They were about the same thing, only opposites of each other. The Arch Mage made a few birds appear, which flew around the room, tweeting. Zethra took to concealing almost right away, and after concealing all of the birds moved on to concealing a chair before they proceeded to disarming.
Zethra thought that disarming would probably of the most use to her out of the three. To her dismay, however, it was the hardest. It was not like the other two, which were just changing images. Moving physical objects was much harder. The Arch Mage would hold a dagger and Zethra would have to attempt to make it fly out of his hand. To do this, she gathered her magic and sent it out as a giant ripple of energy towards the dagger. Her first attempts were feeble and the dagger did not go anywhere, but by the eighth try she could make it fly a few feet backwards out of his hand.
Zethra glanced out the window and was alarmed to see that it was already dark outside. The Arch Mage concluded that the lesson was done and that Zethra should practice before her next lesson. Once again he disappeared from the room, leavin Zethra standing alone. Her cloak flapped behind her as she departed.

[On behalf of the Arch-mage] This training session is accepted Zethra. Overall it was a well written post, but remember that the examples given in the first post are suggestions only, and you don't need to to follow them exactly in your lessons.
