Robin grinned as Finn praised him. It was an honour to have such a famous pirate tell him he did not "do bad at all". "I learnt all my skills from my dad." He said proudly, "Oh and i suppose they've been improved since i joined the army in Lithonion.
He helped Finn with the injured and slipped over onto the swallow again. It felt good to be back on a ship where he knew he did not have to fight, and he soon headed below deck to clean himself up. He had blood spattered across the breast of his shirt, and his hands were a strange colour due to the mix of dirt and blood hehad aquired there. The silence in the cabins was strange compared to the roar of the sea and pirates he had been subject to for the previous hours, but it was welcomed by Robin. After cleaning himself up he sat himself upon the bed he had slept in the previous night, and set about polishing his blade.
The next thing Robin knew, he was waking from a deep sleep. He realised that the boat was moving again and decided to head back up onto the deck to find Finn and see where the ship was heading for. He carefully resheathed his blade, which had fallen onto the floor as he slept.
"Sir!" Robin shouted to Finn from a way away, and he jogged over to talk to him. "Sorry sir, i fell asleep." He grinned sheepishly but didn't think Finn would mind. After all Robin was no pirate and was not at all used to the fighting he had just endured.
"Where are we headed?" He asked.

"I learnt all my skills from my dad. Oh and i suppose they've been improved since i joined the army in Lithonion." Finn grinned at the boy. "Your dad must have been pretty good at the sword then. The army, eh? Someday when you're a blademaster I might meet my match in you. But since you're not in the navy I shouldn't have to worry about that too much."
Finn carried the injured man to one of the other pirates on the ship and ensured that he would be taken care of properly before going back into his cabin quickly. He stripped out of his blood stained clothes and put some fresh clothes on before going back up on deck. After an hour or two the remaining pirates from the other ship were roped up, their ship plundered, and all of the Black Swallow's pirates were accounted for. Once again pirates scurried accross the deck, a few less this time, to complete all of the tasks to set the ship in motion. It began sailing smoothly away from the battle sight with the wind. A few hours later as Finn leaned over the side of his ship watching dolphins swim alongside of the ship he heard Robin's voice.
Finn turned around and waited for Robin to jog over. "Actually, I'm not quite sure myself yet. I did not have anything planned when we left, it just happened. I was thinking about perhaps going to the Isle of Sirena, a beautiful place, it is, to give the pirates a bit of a break, but it would not be a very good decision, I don't think. The place is usually crawling with tourists and sometimes Lord Nathaniel or Lady Alatariel, so having pirates invade it would just catch a lot of attention. So I think that we'll just go back to the cove. We should be back sometime tomorrow now that we're going at a more relaxed pace. Tomorrow night at latest, I believe."

Robin was quite grateful to be going back to land. Although he had enjoyed his adventure with the pirates, he was exhausted and couldn't wait to tell Louise what he had been up to.
The sea was calm as Robin stood leaning on the wooden railings which prevented sailors from sliding into the sea in rough weather. He gazed into the clear blue waters, hoping to see something down there- perhaps a mermaid. After a time, Robin realised he was not going to catch sight of anything and returned to the cabins below deck.
Laying upon the bed was his sword, sheath beside it. He had forgotten to pack it away before he had been to see Finn. He fondly fingered the leather plaits which made the sheath and smiled. What would Saria say? he wondered as he imagined telling her his tale. She would never have believed him and would simply have accused him of telling tales again. He put his sword away and tied the sheath to his side. Before laying back on the bed and staring up at the ceiling.

The water was all. Serena let the waves and current take her with them as she relaxed. She felt somewhat tired after a long day of exploring the ocean, but did not quite feel like returning to the hall in Mar Ciudad where all of the merfolk slept upon need. Serena's long, wavy blond hair fanned out accross the surface of the water. She was floating on her back upon the water, staring up at the sky. The sky was the loveliest shade of pink, as a result from the setting of the sun. The sea and the sky seemed one, but yet so unalike at the same time. As the waves crashed forcefully, right now the sun set peacefully. Above the water and under it were two different worlds, as Serena had recently learned, just now turning sixteen.
As Serena continued to watch the sun set, she saw something different on the horizon. She sat up, alert as whatever the object was approached. Her light blue eyes saw the sails of a ship rising up over the water. Of course it was a ship! What else could it be? All kinds of ships often passed this way from many different lands. Most of them were merchants' ships, which Serena strongly suspected this one was. She dove back into the salty water and swam quickly towards the ship, only pausing to jump out of the water once more and doing a flip in the air before landing back in. It was always good fun to examine the ships and beings that they carried. Land walkers were thourougly amusing to watch, and sometimes could be good company.
Serena had long since learned that there were as many unpleasant humans and elves as there were merfolk. As a child she had thought that all of the land-walkers were very noble beings. Her small mind had taken in all of the stories of the great wonders of the land above the water and so she had thought that only the greatest people could have lived in such a place. To be a great person would mean that they were always just and fair as well. But the world did not follow the lines of what a small child thought.
Serena came up again above the water, this time next to the hull of the boat. Her eyes caught on the figurehead and she almost spat in disgust. How dare they! Serena knew that the figurehead was probably made all in good fun, but it was a great disgrace towards her people. What kind of people could do this? Serena filled with anger.

Shouts from above deck woke Robin from his thoughts, and he rushed up to see what was going on. He was beginning to feel like a yo-yo, the way he kept going up and down those stairs. "Whats going on?" he called to one of the men, who stood with many others at the hull. The pirate said nothing but signalled for Robin to approach.
At first Robin saw nothing, just an expanse of water lapping gently against the wood of the boat but as he watched he saw a glimmer of...blue scales?! His heart leapt and he leant over the wooden railings as far as he could in order to geta better look. Most of the pirates seemed to be jeering, as though this beautiful creature was just another wench in a town. But Robin felt differently. He was mesmerized and respected her. However something in her eyes looked angry, and Robin smiled, hoping to catch her atention.

As the men onboard the ship started jeering at her, Serena decided at once that these were definitely unpleasant people. The figurehead merely confirmed this. Her anger grew with every shout until her light eyes lost her light and filled with anger. She considered simply swimming away from the ship and letting the people be, but a different idea came to mind. She looked at the hull of the ship with interest, trying to estimate how thick it was. Maybe she could put a hole in a ship and send them all into the ocean, where she would hold the power. But no, that idea was too rash. They didn't deserve that just for their rude behavior.
Instead Serena occupied herself by glaring at the men onboard the ship, still mulling over what she could do to teach them some sort of lesson. She was taken aback when her gaze met a boy's. He was smiling and seemed to be one of the few people that wasn't yelling at her. She gave him a smile back before looking up at the sails, and then the sailors' attire. It was clear that this group of land-walkers were most definitely not merchants, or had any sort of respectable jobs at all. She judged from the clues on the ship and from the way that they were headed that they were probably pirates. How many other ships would sail straight to the cove and not to the port? Serena formed an idea in her head as she looked back up at the ship. The sun was setting fast, and with it Serena's ability to walk on land. It didn't look like the potential pirates would take too long before they reached the cove. Maybe Serena could walk on land and meet some of them. It would be fascinating to meet a pirate. And there was that one boy... Of course, going on land, particulary in the cove, of all places, was dangerous, but Serena couldn't help but think of what an adventure it would be. She looked up and met the boy's eyes and gave him another smile before swimming away back into the depths of the ocean.

Finn was cleaning and polishing his sword in his cabin when he suddenly heard yelling start. He accidentally cut the tip of his finger on the point of the sword and swore. Sucking on his finger, he searched the cabin for a bandage. He had cut his finger pretty badly and blood streamed everywhere. Finally he succeeded in finding one and hastily wrapped the cloth around his fingers and hand. Parts of the bandage hung off loosely, he hadn't bothered with bandaging properly in his rush to see what the noise was. Finn took the stairs up to the deck two at the time, expecting to see some sort of catastrophe. Instead he saw almost all of the men on his ship at the side yelling at something. What could possibly be causing such a disturbance on his ship? Finn scowled and walked forward. His eyes followed a mermaid smiling up at someone and diving back into the water. Finn glanced in the direction of where the mermaid had looked and saw Robin standing by a knot of pirates.
"Men, go get back to work! Let the sea creatures be and man my ship, unless you wish to be punished. Savvy?"
Finn walked up to Robin and clapped him on his back. "So, lad, what do you think of the sea life? Is this your first time encountering a mermaid?"

A great splash could be heard as Nyx swam towards the decks. She looked at the two humans with curiousity,'there an odd lot'she thought as she dove back underwater to swim closer to them. She came back up tilted her head to one side she had never really talked to any humans or let alone meet any.'Maybe one of them will talk to me'she wondered.
She looked at the one they called Finn,'he must be the capton of the ship'she thought with curiousity. She dove underwater then came back up as she watched the humans on the ship. Some of the men looked her way and were surprised to see her in the water. She just smiled and gave a slight wave to them as if it was no big deal that she was a mermaid.

Robin stood stil mesmerized as Finn clasped a firm hand on his shoulder. "Yes i er...She smiled at me!" Robin grinned, his voice babbling almost incoherently. The other pirates seemed to be dispersing at Finns orders and Robin moved closer to the rail to get a better look at the mermaid. He approached just in time to see her glimmering tail disappear beneath the water. He sighed disappointed that he hadnt been able to communicate somehow.
Just then a loud splash at the other side of the ship caused him to jump back. Running over he saw an equally as impressive female glide in and out of the waves effortlessly. A couple of other pirates had joined him and the woman in the water waved. It seemed to Robin that no matter how long he stared, the mermaids never lost their appeal.

Nyx blinked when she saw a young man look her way he seemed mesmerized by her.She just smiled at him she wanted to say and ask so many things but didn't want to scare anyone away. She was so curious about the landwalkers,'I wonder what its like to live on land'she wondered.
She watched him closely for a moment then dove back underwater and swam to bottom as fast as she could. She reached the bottom after a few minutes and saw a shell that was the color of her fins a light pink. She grabbed it and swam back to the surface, she came up and looked back at the young man and threw the shell hoping he'd catch it.It was a gift that her people often gave to those that they had just met.

For a few seconds Robin just stared at the beautiful creature before him, and she stared back. He wanted to speak to her, to ask her so many questions about what life was like under the sea....but he couldnt bring himself to speak.
Suddenly though, in a flash of pink, she was gone. He leant as far ashe could oer the rail to see if he could spot even a glimmer of the brilliant colours of her scales, but to no avail. Something behind him clattered and he turned to see a magnificent shell, the same brilliant pink as the mercreature. He cradled it in his hands, before starting to wonder if it was she who had thrown it there. It was.
"What's this?" He called softly to her. He was glad that the men had all left him to his own devices. He was not even sure Merpeople spoke the same language, and he definitely didn't want to appear a fool.

Nyx watched the man look at the shell with wonder writton on his face. When he had called softly to her asking what it was she smiled,"Its a gift that my people give to those they just meet"she called back to him. She didn't think that landwalkers and merfolk spoke the same language, but she understood what he said. 'Maybe we aren't that different except that he lives on land and I live in water' she thought.
