Fuming, Trianna pulled at the door, knowing that Raven was going to take this opportunity to grab another dragon egg and privately vowing to strip him bare if she had to to make sure that he had only one egg when they left the keep. A very, very small part of her mind told itself that she would someday laugh at the fast one he had pulled on her, and that it was something she would do herself if she had been in his shoes, but she pushed it aside. Casting a look around, she saw through the window that the other stableboy was heading back, with a guard in tow- he must have realized that something was wrong. Cursing, she realized that there was a ring of keys hanging next to the door, and quickly unlocked it at the same moment as the boy came out.

Only, he wasn’t holding a dragon egg, he was holding, much much worse than a dragon egg. A dark purple lizardlike hatchling sat perched on his shoulder, and Trianna could have strangled him as he pleaded “So, are you going to punish me? Please can I keep Alanni?”

Ruefully, she shook her head, her bad temper evaporating, at the look in his eyes, although she still knew she would have to refuse. “Are you mad?” She hissed, plucking up the little creature before Raven could stop her “We might be able to get that egg you have under your shirt out if everything goes as planned. But do you really think no one’s going to notice you running through the city with ‘Alanni’ on your shoulder? It’s cute, and I would say yes if we had any chance of getting out of here without it squealing or being seen, but guess what? Unless we smash it on the head to knock it out and hope that that doesn’t kill the hatchling, there’s no way that can happen. Why don’t we not risk Alanni’s safety and take the other dragon egg? It can stay here and be happy with the dragon rider it’s supposed to get.”

Raven didn’t seem too happy, and as Trianna looked more closely at the little creature, she felt her heart begin to melt as well, but they didn’t have time for this, the guard would be coming any… where was the guard? Looking up suddenly, Trianna realized that not only that guard but all the guards were missing, along with the stableboys. Sawyer’s diversion must be in motion, and the two didn’t have time to argue; they hadn’t even realized it was happening until just now, and who knew how much precious time had been lost? Hesitating, Trianna looked back down at the little creature, then at Raven. If he put the egg back in the room, she would at least have prevented him from stealing a dragon for himself, and it might be worth the extra effort just because of the fun they would have… come to think of it, the look on Sawyer’s face alone would make it worth it; briefly she wondered whether he would be pleased or angry, and then set the thought in the back of her mind.

“Fine” she said suddenly “Put that other egg back in the room while I see if I can put… Alanni… to sleep.” Rummaging in her satchel, she brought out the leaves that would cause drowsiness, and poked them gingerly into the creature’s mouth, hoping that it would react just as humans did and that she wasn’t going to poison it. She saw a flash of tiny, needlelike teeth as she quickly withdrew her hand, but by then Alanni was already beginning to yawn, and as if it were a puppet with strings cut, slumped suddenly in her hands.

[Ooc: I can quickly rp Allan, but only for now. She isn't going to become a character!]

Allani's brain was keyed into one instinct; Protect her rider. However, then, the big female took her. Now Allani was angry. She was being taken away from the one who had the manners to witness her birth! Well, that's what Allani thought anyway. Growling, she snapped at the stupid female's wrist, trying desperately to get back to her rider. Then, the female poked leaves into her mouth! Leaves weren't eating food. Squeaking in igdignation, Allani tried to resist, but her head dozed off, and her body followed suit. But, Allani had time to picture the female, burnt to a crisp!

Raven Blue watched as Allani tried to bite Trianna's wrist. Sighing, he sat down, and inspected the other egg. It was orange, with white flecks. He wanted to give it to the rebels. Scowling at Trianna as she poked the leaves into Allan's mouth, he snatched the limp body off her. "Allani don't want to go to the rebel group. She want be with me!" he grumbled. "We can hide Allani, and take the egg. I can catch another ride with Allani hidden, and you can tell Farusan I was killed. I can still give him information through you!" he whispered cautiously, reverting back from his baby voice. Holding his chin high, he took the keys from Trianna, and slid them into the lock, ready for anyone who may be walking along. "Come on" he beckoned, leading the way.

Baby eyes had worked on Trianna once, but they were certainly not going to do their magic on her again. She had already tried to work out a compromise that would allow Raven to stay with his precious dragon, but there was no way she was going to let him do something as far fetched as that! “You really must be mad!” She said, running in front of him to halt the boy in his tracks and looking at him with incredulity, ready to grab him should he even seem to think of running off. Time was getting shorter, and they needed to get out of here soon or else all the guards would come back to see them arguing, but there was no way that she was going to allow this.

“Think Raven think! If we split up, it doubles the chances that someone will catch a glimpse of a stolen dragon or dragon egg, and if it’s you they see, you won’t even have the protection of Farusan, who’s the only one of us who knows how to wield a sword. You want Alanni to be yours, you want to take off some night from the Crusader’s camp on your own some night and try your luck together, that’s fine by me. I might even help out or cover for you, not liking the outlaws much. Right now, however, you, me, Alanni, we all need to get out of the city and it’ll be easier for everyone to do that if we stick together and meet Sawyer as planned. I don’t imagine he’ll be angry if we bring an extra dragon egg as well, and it might mean that he doesn’t watch Alanni as carefully, when you try to spirit her away. So if you carry that, I can carry Alanni in case she wakes up. If she does she’ll need to get more herbs fast before the guards see her squirming and send her back to the keep, and I’m the only one who knows the different types and dosages that will do that.”

Once again picking up the tiny dragon, Trianna tucked her inside her satchel and quickly removed the herb pouch contained within and strung around her neck- she certainly didn’t want the creature messing around with those. It seemed like a pretty fair deal to her- after all in the end, Farusan would still be getting his egg, Raven his dragon, and she, aside from her many arguments, she was having the time of her life. Unless Raven disagreed of course, but she was acutely conscious of the time that was running out, and she imagined he was too. “Now” She said, tying the strings quickly “Let’s go. If you want to argue with me more, do it out of here, where the guards won’t see us.” Praying that Sawyer was still leading the guards on their merry chase, she ran towards the door of the Keep and looked out onto the castle grounds.

[OOC: Sorry it's so short, I didn't have much time left]

Running after Trianna spent RB's energy, and he soon, reluctantly, realised that the plan was a good one. Pausing while she looked out, he cradled his arms, and kept lookout for any approaching guards. He grinned at Trianna, then peered out to where she was looking. His face was the image of delight, he was very pleased.

"Tell me when Farusan arrives, I'll keep lookout" he told her, for she was constantly glancing back and forth at the stairs and grounds, as everyone instinctively does. Focusing his attention on lookout, he wasn't really listening to Trianna's reply. Suddenly the tramping of boots made him spring up in alarm, but he relaxed, and crouched down again as the sound passed away.

Crouched by the door, Trianna accepted Raven's offer of being lookout, because an important thought had just occurred to her. Sawyer had pointed it out earlier, when he had anticipated that Raven would take another dragon, but in the rush and confusion, she hadn't thought of it. Pieces of eggshell were now scattered across the furnace room, and should someone come in and find that dragon that had been contained within was missing, the game would be up. While her friend crouched at the door, listening for the return of the guards, Trianna carefully crept back to the room and cautiously unlocked and pushed back the heavy door.

The pieces of the shell were lying on the floor, right at her feet, and it only took her a moment to gather them. Originally, she had planned to just sweep them into her bag, but looking at them, a better idea occurred. Raven seemed to have pulled apart the shell itself, meaning that the shell had not smashed, but rather been left in three or four large sections that she quickly pieced together. Using dirt from the floor and spit to make an emergency glue, Trianna pieced the egg back together until it was returned into its original shape and then stood up to look over her quick creation. To a person just glancing over the eggs, this one would seem no different than the others now, but just to be sure she pushed it towards the back where it would be less visible. Now as long as no one picked it up or looked too closely, the remnants of shell might be able to go for several hours before being noticed, by which time they would be long gone.

Sweating badly, she closed the door behind her and mopped her sopping face with her sleeve as she silently returned to where Raven sat keeping lookout. Even as she was walking back, they both heard boots marching past the door, and instinctively stiffened, Trianna barely breathing. As soon as they were gone she went up to Raven again, squatting next to him. "We can't stay here" she murmured "I don't know where Farusan wants to meet us, but over here is too exposed. Besides, if he's being chased by guards, there's no way he'll be able to reach the castle. Now comes the fun part. Do you think we'll be able to reach the Main Square again? If we get separated, meet me at the alley where we started, where we'll not be seen, and if we get asked what's in my pouch or if someone sees the egg- which you'd better hide under the coat- than the one who's caught makes a break for it, while the other tries to slip by in the disturbance, alright?" She hoped it would work; at any rate, they both seemed to be good runners, so if the worst came to worse, chances were that they wouldn't get caught. "Ready? Any last words?"

Without waiting for a reply, she pushed the door open and sauntered out of the Keep, hoping that anyone who saw her would take her to be another person exploring the castle, with her little brother in tow.

Walking smartly after Trianna, he let his whole body relax, in the casual walk and innocent look he had perfected during his many days of pickpocketing. Whistling, he made up a little tune. "Dum dum daaa, dee dee do. Dum dum daaa, dee dee day," he hummed. His eyes flickered back and forth slowly, in that weird, alert adolescent style. "Doo doo day dee da dum di. Dilly dilly dally dally ding dong doo" he hummed, changing the tune slightly. A cart trundled up the worn, dirt road leading to the castle. Clicking his fingers to the beat, RB drew out with a flourish his musical side of life. He started tapping his foot as well, and soon he was creating words to his little song. "Why'd ya do that? Why'd ya do dat? Why'd you steal from me? I got a little sister and a frail old mother, and yet ya stole from meee." Hopping quietly onto the cart, he tapped the driver on the back. Startled, the man spun around. "What the...?" he yelled, shocked. He drew the reins up, and then seemed to relax. "Oh. Hi Raven. Sorry, I did nay recognise yer. Howzit going?" he asked, in the classic farmers accent of that time. "Good, thanks Jean" Raven replied. He seemed to know the farmer, but, as he beckoned Trianna over, the farmer's eyes narrowed. "What have yer got here? A poor lass, by the looks of it. Who is she anyhow? Are yer married?" With that, the man let out a deep, booming roar of laughter. Raven gave him an annoyed look, and the farmer shut up. "Okay, okay..." Jean muttered.

Raven continued to stay silent, and then spoke. "She can introduce herself Jean. The lass isn't stupid yer know." Yes, RB could speak in the 'farmer accent', but only in extreme circumstances. He thought it was primitive. "So, are yer going to introduce yerself lassy?" the famer queried. "Hop on now, we need to leave. Urgent business in town, yer understand."
