The docks positively reek of fish, salt and sweat, this being the hub and centre of activity in Agrycand.
It is here that older pirates often retire to live the rest of their lives out drinking and fishing, here that wenches waiting for a favoured pirate to return to land wait, and here that The Avenger regularly stops off to pick up or deliver new loads of stolen or "aquiested" goods.

It was not often that Elirae strayed far from Garnet Tower - with the exception of her recent adventure in the woods- however when she did, she liked to take in the sights and sounds in every possible way. And so when she visited the Cove, her bag was packed full of parchment for taking noted and drawing pictures.
She was overwhelmed by the smell of fish at first, after all the only experience she had ever had with the stuff was when it arrived cooked and carefully arranged on her plate, but soon her nostrils accustomed themselves to it and she could even bring herself to sample some of the delicacies on sale.
Her choice of seating was one of the disused jetties which jutted out into the sea. No one would bother her there but the view was astounding. Little boats bobbed gently on the shimmering surface, while on the horizon she could just make out larger ships, probably used for battles or even pirates! Excitedly she scribbled until she had a copy of it on paper and then grabbed a new sheet and began hastily writing notes. When she tired of writing she amused herself by listening to the rumours passed between fisherman's wives. Most seemed nothing but old wives tales, but often she caught snippets that seemed to anticipate someones arrival.
"I've heard he might be back?" was what most seemed to be saying.
Eager to learn more, she followed a couple of women as they wandered past the jetty, it wasnt very difficult as the noise drowned out her footsteps and the crowds hid her whenever the pair turned around. Much to her dismay though they turned into a deserted little alley and it soon became clear she was stalking them. "have you no manners? Are you a thief? Get out of here" they yelled, although Elirae had long gone. When she arrived back at the disused jetty, she breathed a sigh of relief, and with a grin wrote one sentence on her paper.

Finn Morgan strutted along the docks confidently, on his way to his favorite tavern. He had been back in the cove for maybe a week now, but had been so caught up in "business" that he hadn't had much time to enjoy himself. He chuckled as he thought of the boy who had been on his ship for that last journey and battle. He had taken off not long after they pulled into the docks, but Finn was sure that someday he would run into him again.
Finn's eye caught onto a pretty girl, writing on an unused jetty a bit down the docks by the fishing boats. He frowned. It was a very unusual thing to come accross in the shady cove. There were few women here, besides barmaids, and out of those even fewer that would be educated or inclined to writing. His curiousity got the best of him and he approached closer to the girl, no, woman, writing on the paper.
She was better dressed than any other women here in the cove, making her even more out of place. Finn came up a few feet behind her, openly staring, and strained his eyes to make out some of the words on the paper, so maybe he could have a better idea of who she was.

The shadow behind Elirae was growing steadily longer but rather than be scared that it could be someone dangerous, Elirae was annoyed that the person was blocking out the light.
"Do you mind!" She yelled rudely, standing up and spinning around. "Your blocking the sun out!" She rolled up her paper and clenched it tightly in her fists. "Did you hear me?!" She stamped her feet and rapped him hard in the chest with her roll of paper. "Move!"
Elirae Ashe didn't like being interrupted, especially when deep in writing, and this guy had broken her thoughts of the infamous pirate Finn Morgan. Anyone else would have treated the stranger with caution or respect, but Eli knew no better and she was not the type of girl to adheer to rules anyway.
Elirae's initial stamp on the jetty had sent several pieces of debris into the waves beneath. She did not notice though and continued until she was so frustrated she was practically jumping up and down. All of a sudden she gave a particuarly violent kick at a nearby post. The jetty didnt need much encouragement and began to crumble into the sea. Screaming Elirae struggled to stay on the boards that so far remained intact. "Help me you imbecile!" She cried frantically "Are you deaf!" Even in the face of danger Elirae wasn't one to be polite.

Finn just sat and stared in disbelief as the girl shouted at him and started hitting him with the paper she had been writing on. She was even stranger than he had thought. The girl must not have known who he was, or was foolish. No other kind of person would treat a pirate, especially Finn Morgan, like that upon meeting them, that is unless they were an enemy with a weapon, or part of the navy. That the girl was practically attacking him was still sinking in when she began falling through the boards.
Finn scowled at the girl, who was still yelling at him despite the fact she was about to fall into the ocean, and considered letting her falling into the ocean. Instead he grabbed her somewhat roughly with his muscled arms, picked her up, and set her down back on safe ground. Despite Finn's annoyance at the girl, he was mostly an easygoing person and was amused with her personality.
"I hope that you will at least thank me after saving you from saving you from falling into the ocean after that... display," Finn said dryly.
A small crowd had gathered around after hearing the shouting, and they whispered among themselves frantically, some of them pointing excitedly.

"Thank you then" she hissed at him, eyes narrowed and a scowl upon her face. She knew she should have been politer, but the sun was hot and had gotten to her.
The crowd taht had gathered were whispering excitedly and seemed to be shocked by her behaviour towards the gentleman. But who was he? certainly no one Eli had ever seen ebfore...or had she? The more she thought about it, the more possible it seemed that this could be Finn Morgan, captain of the Black Swallow. He certainly looked the part, with his curly hair and dark tan. Elirae gulped and let out a nervous laugh. "You're not...Are you?" She muttered. Gaining from his expression that she need to give him more information she added "Finn Morgan?"
A roar of whispers rushed through the crowd. "She didnt know! How could she not have realised! Is she blind?" The mutterings angered Elirae and made her feel even more embarrassed. "It's not like i've met him is it!" She yelled at the audience, silencing them instantly. "I dont even come from round here!" She pushed past Morgan with a heavy shove and ran off of the jetty. She wanted to get as far away as possible. Damnit she thought when she reached the end of the pier, I've left my papers behind!

Finn laughed and bowed to the girl after she... thanked him. "Oh, it was all my pleasure, my lady," he spoke, with a wide grin on his face. Finn barely noticed the crowd. He had become used to people gathering around where he was, usually to hear tales or talk to him. They didn't happen all that often, but he wasn't too surprised when they did.
He raised his eyebrows at the girl, who suddenly seemed to have realized who he was. And again as she went from stuttering to shouting. He shook his head as the girl ran off. She was definitely one of the most interesting people that he had met in a while. The sound of wind whipping paper caused Finn to glance back towards the end of the jetty as he began to walk away. He strode back to catch what papers he could.
Finn walked off, trying to find the girl, with papers in hand. He could not help studying them, curiously. His expression became puzzled at some of the papers with writing on them. He couldn't read many of the words on those. Finn had grown up in a village, and no one had taught him how to read there. Everyone had expected him to spend his entire life fishing, like his father and grandfather, and who knows who else, before him. When Finn had joined the navy, he secretly had learned enough that he could read written orders, but he had never became fully literate.
Finn looked up from the papers and searched around the crowd. It could not be hard to find the girl; she was horribly out of place here. An educated girl who was dressed too well for the cove, and besides had not recognized Finn upon meeting him. He could probably ask any person in the streets and they could locate her.

Eli sat behind a pile of wooden crates, the type that contained dried herbs and salt for ships that were going to need a vast supply of food. She sat with her knees drawn up to her chin and a scowl set so deep into her features that one might have thought she wwere born that way.
She was sick of this stupid town and she was sick of the salty air, which had made her hair straggly and her face itch. She had spent all day writing and drawing, in the most pleasant of moods, and then that stupid pirate had to ruin it all. She had lost all of her papers too, so the day had been a complete waste of time.
"I wish i hadn't come here" she mumbled, crossing her legs and resting her chin in her hands. "Canas should have let me spend the day in the Library, it would have been much less stressful." She longed to be back in the tower, surrounded by her much loved stories and her comfy bed, but here she was in a street full of fish and smelly pirates. If she could have, she would have left straight away, but when she had arrived back on the main street, she had discovered that the next cart back to Garnet tower was the next day. Somehow she had misread the times and now she was stuck.

Finn searched the streets half-heartedly, wondering if he could actually find the girl. The streets were muddy and he had to take care that puddles did not splash all over him. He was used to the dirty, salty city by now, but he did not enjoy getting his clothes full of dirt when he could help it.
Finn doubled back to go towards the docks when he could not find the girl. As he turned the corner of a narrow street, he glimpsed the girl out of the corner of his eye. He grimaced as he saw the look on her face, but he had faced worse in his life than an unpredictable woman, so he strode forward confidently. He thought of smiling at her, but the sight of him with her papers might cause her to react like before, even without him smiling at her.
"You left these at the docks," Finn said, shoving the papers towards the girl, but taking care not to damage any of them. He held almost a sort of reverance towards them. He could never imagine being able to read or write anything of the kind. He could sketch well enough to show his crew things, but writing was another.
